Releases we’re looking forward to in August

And out of nowhere, it’s August! Now whilst lockdown has got in the way of many of our summer plans, great content (whether an awesome film, banging track or game you can’t put down) has helped get us through it. And it looks like the top-notch entertainment isn’t slowing down. So we thought, why not share some of the great content we’re most looking forward to this month. You’re welcome.

If it’s a film you’re looking for, Netflix have a host of great releases for whatever you’re after. Whether it’s comedy Action Point (7th August) or quirky thriller Unknown Origins (28th August), they’ve got you covered. Disney Plus are offering us loads of weekly releases too, such as The One and Only Ivan and its star-studded cast (21st August). Sky Cinema aren’t joking around either, as they bring Joaquin Phoenix’s award-winning Joker to your screen (11th August).

August and barbecues go hand in hand, but every good one needs great music. Luckily, there are album releases from Glass Animals (7th August), who will be sure to bring that summer feeling, Biffy Clyro (14th August) and the long-awaited return of Katy Perry (14th August) to look forward to. Enough to get any party started.

The conclusion of the Champions League is something most fans don’t usually have to pencil in this late in the year, so if you’re a football fan – make sure you have the big dates in your diary. Available to watch on BT Sport, don’t miss the back to back semi-finals (18th-19th August) ahead of the final (23rd August) to see who will take Liverpool’s crown. If you prefer your sport on two wheels however, then make sure you check out the Tour de France on Zwift or Eurosport (29th August).

Happily, holidays are back on the cards now. Whether that’s a beach trip abroad or a weekend away, every trip worth its salt needs a good book. Luckily, thrillers The Search Party (18th August) and Eight Detectives (20th August) will be available to download to your Kindle, an audiobook, or of course in print. Let us know on our social what August arrivals you’ve been looking forward to! Remember to check out our list of genuine sites on where to get these and all other upcoming releases.
